Regular work is undertaken on GRO, wood and carbon fibre hulls, together with treatment for osmosis.
Previous hull projects have included working on a 75ft wooden ketch. This was an extensive project that involved replaced 30% of the planking (topsides) due to rotten timber.
The HYS repair team replaced all the topsides with mahogany planking and several new oak frames throughout. HYS then re-painted the topsides and superstructure of this boat and then fitted a bow thruster to this wooden vessel - something of a rarity!
