Race Preparation

Hamble Yacht Services, positioned right at the heart of yachting on the River Hamble is the ideal place for race boats to come ashore and prepare for racing. Some of the largest race boats on the racing circuit frequently visit Hamble Yacht Services due to the expertise and services offered at the yard. These services include, keel fairing, optimisation and long boarding.

Keel Fairing

Keel Fairing is the process that involves all the surfaces of the keel being sanded down with the use of a long board to avoid discrepancies. Templates are also used to ensure that both sides mirror one another to the designer’s original profiles. Paint finishes if required will then ensure optimum race performance.

Optimisation

Optimisation is the process that involves weighing boats to assist with calculating the boat rating. Various mast adjustments and rig settings can be changed alongside the deck gear to ensure ease of use.

Long Boarding

Long boarding ensures that the hull fairing is smooth to improve performance on the race circuit.
