HYS support Simon Clarke in the Artemis Transat
Fri 02 May 2008
Hamble Yacht Services (HYS), the well established and world reputed full service yacht repair and refit facility, has just announced that it will be supporting yachtsman Simon Clarke in his first single-handed race, the Artemis Transat. Simon has been preparing and racing boats out of HYS for over 20 years and says it has always been his yard of choice.
The Artemis Transat race starts on the 11th May in Plymouth and Simon is busy preparing his Class 40 for the 2,800 (mostly upwind) nautical miles to Boston. Simon Clarke says: “HYS are very kindly supporting me by providing lifting and berthing in the yard for my Class 40 on the River Hamble – I really couldn’t wish to be in a better place and am extremely grateful for the support they are giving me during my preparation for the Transat”.
Last year Simon competed in the Transat Jacques Vabre double-handed race from France to Brazil with Kiwi-Dave Lyndsay, who also has a long relationship with HYS and Ancasta.
Simon is currently looking for corporate sponsorship so that he can continue with his short-handed racing campaign.
