Lifting hoists now operate 7 days a week

Demand for boat movements in and out of the Solent has led Hamble Yacht Services to start a seven day a week boat lifting and boat movement service. HYS has extended its boat hoist services to now operate every day of the week in order to offer flexibility to its customers and to meet demand from boat owners now and during the busy summer months. The service is available now, and will run until the end of October, enabling owners to have power and sail boats up to 80 tons moved quickly and easily in and out of the water, for storage, service or cleaning.

HYS’ seven day a week hoist service coincides with the opening of its dry-stacking system. This is the first dry stacking operation available on the River Hamble and has increased boat use and movements on and off the water.

Malcolm Hearnden, General Manager at HYS said: “Our seven day a week service is in direct response to customer demand. We already experience more requests for movements than we can easily satisfy, even with four travel hoists as well as the dry-stacking hoists on the Hamble River. Now we can offer complete flexibility for boat owners. Anyone looking for an immediate lift out can contact us as we are likely to be able to help, even over peak periods and weekends. This is particularly good for boat owners who want to inspect their hulls for damage for example, and to get any repairs sorted before heading back to town thus ensuring their boat is back in operation for the following week.”

OceanLED lights the way

Hamble Yacht Services (HYS) has become a dealer and installer for OceanLED’s revolutionary LED underwater lighting technology.

OceanLED’s underwater range is unlike any other currently available to the marine industry.

Illuminating the water surrounding a boat extends the pleasure of sailing for yacht owners, creating a visually stunning effect as well as easing the problem of berthing in the dark.

Ocean LED’s patented lights work by capturing the emitted light from LEDs, within individual optical prisms and by using total internal reflection, light is magnified, focused and then projected in a set beam. In comparison, light emitted from a traditional bulb in a common underwater light is spread over 360 degrees, is then caught by a reflector and bounced out through a standard lens.

OceanLED underwater fixtures have a higher light output compared to conventional lighting using less power as the lights utilise the latest super-efficient precision optics.

Ocean LED lights are whiter in colour than any other underwater light resulting in cleaner brighter lighting effects and, as LED’s are a solid state lighting, they will out last anything currently available by up to 40 times longer.

HYS provide supply and offer a full installation service including lift-out, fitting and re-launch at their base on the River Hamble.
